🌱 Man Caught With Loaded Gun At NIA + Naval Station Plane Crashes

Here are the three top stories today in Norfolk:
- A Virginia Beach man was caught with a loaded 9 mm handgun at an airport security checkpoint at Norfolk International Airport on Wednesday, said the Transportation Security Administration. The man's carry-on bags set off an alarm in the security checkpoint X-ray unit. The TSA alerted airport police after finding the gun. (13newsnow.com WVEC)
- After managing to stay open through COVID many Norfolk business owners said they are hopeful for the future and are keeping some of the pandemic changes they made in place. Heather Wynn, owner of Strawberry Fields, a smoothie and gelato spot, set up shop on the sidewalk in the early days of the restrictions and mandates. Wynn said they've seen big rewards and that they're staying on the sidewalk for now. (13newsnow.com WVEC)
- A plane based out of Naval Station Norfolk, with three people on board, crashed in waters near the Eastern Shore Boundary of Virginia and Maryland on Wednesday evening, killing one. The U.S. Coast Guard rescued two others. The plane, an advanced tactical airborne early warning aircraft, was assigned to an East Coast Airborne Command and Control Squadron. (NBC4 Washington)
