- The Norfolk Public Schools announced after its most recent meeting that mask mandates have been lifted for students and staff. The mask mandate removal is accompanied by the removal of a vaccine mandate. Students are still required to wear masks while riding school buses. (13newsnow.com WVEC)
- Virginia Natural Gas has awarded $100,000 to national recording artist Pharrell Williams' YELLOWHAB School in Norfolk. The funds will be used to provide healthy food options to students and their families as part of Williams' nonprofit YELLOW backed 'Nourish Youth' initiative. The school is located in the Ghent neighborhood and educates elementary-aged children. (WAVY.com)
- Dr. William Wilson, 68, Beverly Wilson, 66, and James Wilson, 48, have been arrested by the Norfolk Police Department through a joint partnership of multiple federal departments on charges related to operating a large-scale pill mill. According to a press release, Dr. Wilson was operating a for-profit pain management program that prescribed drugs without a legitimate medical purpose. Each of the suspects was charged with conspiracy to traffic in oxycodone, unlawful use of a two-way communications device, culpable negligence inflicting actual injury, and scheme to defraud.
