🌱 Neighbors Rescue Woman In 26th St Fire + 1 Shot On Denver Ave

Here are the top stories today in Norfolk:
- An 80-year-old Norfolk woman was rescued from a house fire by her neighbors this weekend. The fire began early Saturday morning at the woman's home on 26th Street and was quickly spotted by a neighbor and another man driving by. Both men immediately ran inside and helped the woman to safety. The Norfolk Fire-Rescue Battalion was able to subdue the fire before it spread to nearby homes, and nobody was injured. (WNCT)
- One man is dead following a shooting in Norfolk's Coleman Place neighborhood. Police say the shooting occurred Sunday evening on Denver Avenue, where 56-year-old Kenneth L. Parker was found with multiple gunshot wounds. Parker was pronounced dead at the scene. An investigation of the incident is ongoing and anyone with information is encouraged to submit an anonymous tip by calling 1-888-LOCK-U-UP. (WAVY.com)
- A woman involved in a July traffic stop that turned violent is now filing claims against the officer who pulled her over. The woman, Ebony Holmes, says she was stopped on Tallwood Street for speeding and accidentally hit the officer with her car door when she was asked to step out of the vehicle. Holmes claims the officer, Vincent R. Tocco, then forcefully placed her on the ground, resulting in several bruises. A letter from Holmes's attorney stated she would also be filing claims against the other officers who were present and the City of Norfolk Police Department. (wtkr.com)
