Norfolk’s Finance Department Procurement Office Receives National Honor
It is one of eight Virginia jurisdictions to earn an Achievement of Excellence in Procurement award.

NORFOLK, VA – Norfolk’s Department of Finance Procurement Office was awarded the prestigious Achievement in Excellence in Procurement® (AEP) by The National Procurement Institute, Inc. Monday. The city is one of eight jurisdictions in Virginia to receive the award.

The AEP is the national program used to benchmark organizational excellence in procurement and is awarded annually to public and non-profit agencies that demonstrate innovation, professionalism, e-Procurement, productivity, and leadership in the procurement function. It also encourages the development of excellence as well as continued organizational improvement based on standardized criteria designed to measure state of the art best practices.
This significant accomplishment shows the high standards that Norfolk meets in public procurement and serves to convey confidence to our residents that the city is committed to developing and maintaining purchasing programs and processes that ensure competency, productivity, transparency and good customer service.
