Norfolk Seeks Resident Input Through SurveyNFK

NORFOLK, VA – Over the next five years, the City of Norfolk will work to update its inventory of historic and cultural architecture. Looking far and wide to uncover the hidden, recent histories of this 400-year-old city, we will seek out the stories of Norfolk you feel are worth telling.

Through the end of June, we’re taking public comment on the Historic Resources Draft Survey Plan. The survey plan outlines the histories, themes and threats to known and unknown historic buildings, sites, structures, objects, and potential districts.

The Planning Department’s surveyNFK efforts make the process more approachable and accessible to all residents – not just the professional preservationist or planner. The surveyNFK interactive poll condenses the technical document into normal, everyday language in a manner that asks residents to provide what they feel is historic and important in the city. The poll responses will help direct the city’s path forward in finalizing the survey plan.
