- Lavon T. Williams was arrested yesterday in Chesapeake for the murder of 25-year-old Rikeria D. Bibbins. Bibbins was shot and killed in the 700 block of Rockingham Street in the southern area of Norfolk on Sept. 29. Williams has been charged with second-degree murder. (WAVY.com)
- A fire broke out at a Norfolk apartment complex on Wednesday night. The fire, which appears to have broken out in the kitchen on an apartment unit, was reported at 10:30 p.m. in the 1200 block of West Ocean View Avenue. (WAVY.com)
- A Franklin, Tennessee, man pleaded guilty yesterday to conspiracy to commit honest services mail fraud and admitted to engaging in a 13-year bribery scheme with former Norfolk Sheriff Robert McCabe. (U.S. Department of Justice)
- Norfolk Public Schools will now require its staff to be vaccinated against COVID-19 or get tested weekly. (The Virginian-Pilot)
- A friendly reminder from the Virginia Department of Elections: Tuesday, Oct. 12 is the deadline to register to vote for the Nov. 2 elections.
