🌱 Spartans Postpone Game Amid COVID + Freemason House Reinvented

- The Norfolk State men's basketball team has postponed its game against Campbell University this week amid concerns about COVID-19. The Spartans announced Monday that their Wednesday matchup against the Fighting Camels would be rescheduled while the team enters coronavirus safety protocols. A make-up date for the game has not yet been determined. (wtkr.com)
- A Historic Norfolk Freemason house has been converted into a wellness retreat. The house on Freemason Street, known as the John Cary Weston House, was purchased by David Long and Brittney Cook in 2020 and has now reopened as Haven at Freemason. The wellness center includes a fitness studio, a spa, a kitchen, and an Airbnb. (The Virginian-Pilot)
- A nonprofit organization paid off the layaway purchases of 700 military families for the holidays, including several Norfolk residents. The layaway balances of the 700 families totaled nearly $133,000 and were paid for by Pay Away the Layaway Inc. and Carolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey. Since 2016, NEX layaway balances totaling nearly $400,000 have been paid for military families. (WAVY.com)
