Here are the top stories today in Norfolk:

  1. The Virginia Department of Health will partner with a local Dollar General store to provide free COVID-19 vaccinations to the public. According to the VDH, the Dollar General located at 3350 Chesapeake Boulevard in Norfolk will begin offering vaccinations on Thursday, Nov. 4. The vaccination clinics are intended for individuals 12 years and older who have not received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. (wtkr.com)
  2. Norfolk School Board member Christine E. Smith resigned from her position on Wednesday night to take a job outside the region. Smith was elected to the board in May 2018 and announced the news during a school board meeting. She didn't share details about her new position, but said it was not in Hampton Roads and that she needed to make the transition "as quickly as possible." (The Virginian-Pilot)
  3. Organizations that deal with domestic violence survivors and prevention are opening their doors after three women were killed and two were hurt in Norfolk. (13newsnow.com WVEC)
  4. The Stop the Violence team is set to host a community forum on Nov. 13 and will feature panel discussions, a Q&A session, and community resources. The event will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Kroc Center Gym on Ballentine Boulevard. The event is free and open to the public. (WAVY.com)
