After Monday’s bank robbery there were two unsuccessful bank robbery attempts this week: one in Centreville Tuesday night and another today (Wednesday afternoon) in Washington, D.C.

The man who attempted to rob the Centreville bank Tuesday evening was wearing a Halloween mask and arrived after 6 p.m., when the bank was closed and he could not get into the bank, the FBI noted. He pointed a gun toward the lobby where employees were gathered, the FBI said. A suspect in a McLean bank robbery also wore a mask.

The man who attempted to rob the D.C. bank presented a demand note, but left the bank without receiving any money, the FBI said.

These two attempted robberies bring the total number of bank robberies (and attempts) committed in December 2014 to 16, one shy of December 2013’s stats (17).

Reston has seen four bank robberies since Nov. 26.
