The office recently secured a major DUI conviction after a fatal crash, and officials urge Yorktown-area residents to plan sober rides, use designated drivers or rideshares, and intervene before someone impaired gets behind the wheel. 
• Veterans with vision loss find new 'eyes' through AI glasses (cardinalnews.org) — A Yorktown-based nonprofit, the Cadet Foundation, is helping legally blind veterans across Virginia gain independence by distributing free Meta Ray-Ban AI glasses and training. Working with the Blinded Veterans Association, they've already received about 100 pairs and can access hundreds more, with a local phone and email for veterans or families in Yorktown to apply and learn how the technology can assist daily life.
• Virginia high schools to receive teen driving safety parking lot signs (wydaily.com) — A fatal 2019 teen crash in Yorktown inspired a mother to launch the Gweedo Memorial Foundation, which now partners with state agencies to place safe-driving signs at every Virginia high school. The new parking lot signs, in English and Spanish, remind students to buckle up, put phones away, and never drive without a license, aiming to prevent tragedies like the one that struck Yorktown.
