Kamala Harris Reveals Her Stance Toward Catholics and Other Christians
Comparing Recent and Prior Statements and Behaviors of Kamala Harris (D) and Donald J. Trump (R) towards Catholics and other Christians.

For anyone who still has any doubt, several recent and prior events have clarified what Democratic presidential hopeful Kamala Harris’ stance is toward Catholics and other Christians. For balance and clarity this post will later explore the contrast between Harris and her Republican rival, the 45th President Donald J. Trump and his running mate, Senator J.D. Vance (OH-R) toward Christians, including Catholic Christians. With a ladies-first mindset, let’s explore Harris’ (D) words, behaviors and examples in Part I before pivoting to Trump (R) in Part II.
Part I
On October 17, 2024 per right-leaning Forbes video posted on left-leaning Google-linked YouTube below is the following.

Per Forbes via YouTube: "Vice President Kamala Harris held a rally in Wisconsin on Thursday where she was interrupted by protesters." Per right-leaning World Net Daily (WND) is the following.
"Jim Hoft at The Gateway Pundit headlined a report on the comment, and reaction, "EVIL: Kamala Harris and her supporters mock Christian attendee…

Harris was promoting America's industry of killing unborn children [i.e.: abortion industry] at the time, saying, "We remember Donald Trump hand-selected three members of the United States Supreme Court with the intention that they would undo the protections of Roe v. Wade and they did as he intended.'
Actually, the Supreme Court ruled that the Roe decision was faulty from its outset and not based on the Constitution, so it was overturned, and the result returned regulation of the abortion industry to states.
The report said the Christian "bravely stood up and proclaimed, 'Jesus is Lord.'"
Only to be mocked by Harris: "I think you're at the wrong rally." She added. "Try the smaller one down the street."
The documentation came from Jennifer McKinney, a Wisconsin resident who attended both the Trump rally in late August and the Harris event.
She explained the "smaller" Trump rally had about 7,000 attending, while Harris had perhaps a reported 2,500."
Harris has been questioned or accused for years of what appears to be anti-Christian/Catholic bigotry. Some examples follow.
FirstLiberty.org, a religious liberty protection nonprofit, said: "First Liberty sounded the alarm about [Kamala] Harris and other senators who were interrogating nominees over their religious beliefs. We made clear that a religious test for office is unconstitutional. Article VI of the Constitution clearly states that “no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States.”
According to the Association of Mature American Citizens (AMAC) is the following.
"...The Biden-Harris administration’s anti-Catholic bigotry was also seen with the nomination and appointment of Secretary of Health and Human Services Xavier Becerra, who infamously led progressives’ longstanding efforts to force the Little Sisters of the Poor, a Catholic religious order, to violate their religious precepts and pay for birth control.
Harris, as Biden’s vice president, owns this record as well – and has her own troubling history of anti-Catholic bias. As Catholics prepare to head to the polls this Election Day, they should be aware of precisely how dangerous a Harris presidency would be for their faith, their values, and their freedom to worship.
Among the most egregious examples of Harris’s anti-Catholic bigotry came during a 2018 Senate Judiciary Committee hearing, when then-Senator Harris strongly insinuated that American Catholics are not fit to serve as federal judges. When questioning Brian Buescher, a nominee to be a judge for the U.S. District Court for the District of Nebraska, Harris pointed to his membership in the Knights of Columbus, a Catholic fraternal and charitable organization, as problematic, condemning the organization’s (and the Church’s) mainstream Christian views as extremist.
“Since 1993, you have been a member of the Knights of Columbus, an all-male society comprised primarily of Catholic men,” Harris stated pointedly. “In 2016, Carl Anderson, leader of the Knights of Columbus, described abortion as ‘a legal regime that has resulted in more than 40 million deaths.’ Mr. Anderson went on to say that ‘abortion is the killing of the innocent on a massive scale.’ Were you aware that the Knights of Columbus opposed a woman’s right to choose when you joined the organization?”
Harris then went on to condemn the Church’s views on marriage. Many viewed her comments as essentially amounting to an overt and illegal religious test of a judicial nominee.
Harris’s blatantly anti-Catholic line of questioning elicited overwhelming backlash not only from Catholics, but from other Americans of faith and Harris’s colleagues in the U.S. Senate. Former Senator Orrin Hatch (R-UT), for instance, noted the “alarming” nature of the questioning, which showed that Democrats “are getting more and more comfortable with imposing religious tests on Federal judicial nominees.”
But Harris’s clear record of anti-Catholicism doesn’t stop there. In 2015, when she served as California’s Attorney General, Harris sponsored the so-called “FACT Act,” which legally required pregnancy care centers to advertise for free or low-cost abortion facilities in their waiting rooms. (Fortunately, the law was struck down by the U.S. Supreme Court in 2018).
In 2016, when a whistleblower revealed that Planned Parenthood was illegally trafficking organs and tissue from aborted infants, Harris outrageously ordered a raid on the whistleblower’s home to seize his evidence.
As a Senator, Harris also introduced the so-called “Do No Harm Act,” which would compel Catholic doctors to violate their sincerely held religious beliefs and perform abortions and transgender surgeries on patients. The legislation would also prevent religious groups like the Little Sisters of the Poor, as well as Catholic hospitals, schools, and charities, from operating until they disavowed their religious beliefs.
Harris is additionally an avid supporter of the so-called “Equality Act,” which would allow men to compete in women’s sports, force Catholic churches to host same-sex wedding receptions, force the closure of Catholic adoption and foster care programs, and strike a death blow to religious liberty all across the nation.
As her track record clearly shows, Kamala Harris stands as one of the most militantly anti-Catholic figures in the United States government, and a Harris presidency would pose existential dangers for the future of Catholicism in America. For both Catholics and every American who cares about religious liberty, the stakes in this election could not be higher."
There are pages of such articles to be found online with a simple Google, Bing, Duck Duck Go, or other search for: "examples of anti Christian bigotry by Kamala Harris."
But to make it even clearer, the vice chair for the Kamala Harris (D) campaign is Governor Gretchen Whitmer (MI-D). Per the Hill on 10.11.2024 is the following.
"The Catholic League criticized Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) on Friday for posting a video showing her feeding a Dorito to a podcaster, with the group accusing her of mocking the Eucharist.
“Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer insulted Catholics nationwide when she intentionally ridiculed the Eucharist in a video,” Bill Donohue, president of the Catholic League, wrote in a statement."
Donohue's public protest was followed by pushback of Whitmer, Harris' co-chair, by the Catholic bishops of Michigan. Here is a video by Australia's Sky News. Note that Whitmer is wearing a Harris-Walz campaign hat.
They issued a non-apology after the push back. But it must be considered that instead of attending the Catholic charitable fundraiser known as the Al Smith Dinner, Harris became the first Democrat or Republican since 1984 to decline attendence.
"Since 1960, when John F. Kennedy [D] and Richard Nixon [R] ran for president, only one major party candidate had ever refused to attend New York's Alfred E. Smith Memorial Foundation Dinner."
Now, there will be two.
Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic nominee, confirmed this week that she will skip the event, hosted by the Archbishop of New York and scheduled this year for October 17. Every four years, the annual white-tie gala, which raises money for Catholic charities, traditionally brings together the presidential candidates from both parties for a night of lighthearted roasting and a brief interlude of bipartisan camaraderie.
Her absence will make her the second major-party candidate to decline an invitation in over six decades, and the first since Walter Mondale no-showed at the 1984 event."
Mondale lost 49 of 50 states that year.
Instead of attending, Harris provided this video instead (10.17.2024).
While the Democratic hopeful Harris seems to say some nice things, much of the video involved "Molly Shannon as her SNL character Mary Katherine Gallagher" who is apparently making fun of Catholic Christian beliefs. That is the type of slippery behavior that gives Harris room for her campaign to later say, 'oh, she (Kamala) is so sorry if her video was misunderstood,' rather similar to what her co-chair Whitmer giving a non-apology after her insulting 'Doritos communion' episode.
Given the years of mocking and undermining First Amendment protected religous rights, there should be no misunderstanding on the part of believers of any kind as to what Harris has communicated.
According to the U.S. Holocaust Muesum website:
"Martin Niemöller (1892–1984) was a prominent Lutheran pastor in Germany. In the 1920s and early 1930s, he sympathized with many Nazi ideas and supported radically right-wing political movements. But after Adolf Hitler came to power in 1933, Niemöller became an outspoken critic of Hitler’s interference in the Protestant Church. He spent the last eight years of Nazi rule, from 1937 to 1945, in Nazi prisons and concentration camps. Niemöller is perhaps best remembered for his postwar statement, which begins “First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out…”
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a trade unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew. Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me. —Martin Niemöller
This quote is attributed to the prominent German pastor Martin Niemöller. It is sometimes mistakenly referred to as a poem."
The meaning of the famous remarks by German pastor Martin Niemöller is that someone may not be in a group that is being attacked, but they should imagine themselves as belonging to that group, because they and their group may be next.
Much of the Harris-Walz (D) campaign can be boiled down to a series of slurs and attacks against prior President Trump, Senator J.D. Vance (OH-R), and accusing them and Republicans of doing things that Democrats in the Biden-Harris era have been doing and planning for years. A recent poll said that 20 percent of Democrats don't know what Harris stands for, other than her opposition to Trump.
It is rather easy to debunk Democratic slurs, so long as a person seeks the evidence rather than some out of context or edited video that entirely changes the meaning of what was actually said or done.
More details about Harris and her record as well as about her rival can be found in the reports linked further below.
Part II
Now, in fairness, one should turn to consider what the other major party candidate's record is like toward believers and what he did at the same Al Smith Dinner.
Trump's pro-life stance has been dialed down, as this series of pre-election posts on the Patch has faithfully reported. So, Catholics and other Christians are often understandably disappointed by that shift.
That said, Trump demonstrably has the most pro-Christian, pro-Jewish, pro-religious liberty stance of any president in the 21st century. Author and pundit Dan Bongino said what some anti-Trump and pro-Trump voices have said. Namely, that Trump's stance is tactical. Agree or not, he made that clear by attending the Al Smith Dinner with his wife Melania at his side. He intends to be a defender of religious liberty and will honor the important role that churches and places of worship play in American society and have played in U.S. history.

Lila Rose Open Letter and Other Pro-Lifers not Planning to Vote Trump
Trump is at times coarse. I've shared before on our MHProNews/MHLivingNews platforms and her on the Patch that I was not in the Trump camp in 2015 or early 2016. I had to be won over. So, I get it why others may resist the man and his methods too. It was my highly educated wife who urged me to look past his modes of expression and look beyond the bravado at policies and Trump's actions. She was arguably correct, as the 4 years under Trump were demonstrably better for the lower and middle class than the 3.5 years under Biden-Harris. As a disclosure, the Trump campaign posted her remarks on his campaign site in 2016. As a further disclosure, I don't work for any campaign, my wife and I are independents.

My bride is Persian (born in Tehran, Iran). She went to a European University where she graduated "cum laude" (i.e.: "with honors"). She came to the U.S. legally. She knows how terrible and vexing an authoritarian society can be, regardless if you call that society Marxist, socialist, communist, fascist, theocratic, or whatever. If you speak to someone who is from such an authoritarian society, they are routinely shocked by the modern Democratic party's leftist tilt and are routinely supporters of Trump and "MAGA" (vs. RINO) Republicans. Her first vote cast as a U.S. citizen was for Trump.
There is only one seemingly sensible rationale for some who might want to vote for Harris-Walz beyond Trump hatred. That is if someone is so totally focused on abortion that nothing else matters. But it has to be pointed out, there were more abortions after Roe vs. Wade was overturned than before. The states now have that issue.
All elections come down to a choice of the 'lesser evil' because there are no perfect humans walking this earth today. No mere living mortal you or I know is perfect. So, we as voters have to select the best option, not the perfect one. Sure, someone could write "God" or "Jesus" or some other name in for the Creator of all humanity. But God or Jesus aren't going to accept even if they won in a landslide. Want evidence? For example: "Jesus, knowing that they intended to come and make him king by force, withdrew again to a mountain by himself." (John 6:15 NIV).
That said, let's pivot back to Trump at the Al Smith Dinner 'best of clips.' By the way, as the full length version of this video makes clear, Trump thought there would be no teleprompter, so he is routinely looking down at notes.
Kamala Harris decided to skip the dinner to campaign. Trump could have campaigned too, but went to the multi-decade charity fundraiser instead. That should speak volumes to objective thinkers.
