Suspect Shot By Police Possibly Tied To CVS Robberies in Cherokee
Kelvone Charleston, 36, accused of trying to rob CVS Pharmacy in nearby Forsyth County, was shot while trying to flee capture by FBI agents.

The armed robbery suspect who was shot early Saturday morning in Forsyth County is believed to be responsible for three similar incidents targeting CVS Pharmacies in Cherokee County, Lt. Jay Baker with the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office said.
Kelvone Charleston, 36, of Austell was arrested at 7 a.m. April 4 after he was shot while trying to escape FBI agents and other law enforcement officers who attempted to arrest him.

FBI Special Agent Stephen Emmett said the task force had been tracking Charleston as part of an “ongoing investigation” and followed him to the CVS Pharmacy at 3095 Old Atlanta Road.
When it became apparent that Charleston was allegedly preparing to rob the store, Emmett said the suspect ”was confronted by law enforcement.”

“Charleston attempted to flee in his vehicle and, while doing so, rammed several FBI vehicles, turning one on its side and injuring its occupants,” he said.
Officers fired upon Charleston, who received multiple gunshot wounds. The suspect was transported to an area hospital where he was treated for “non life threatening” wounds, Emmett stated.
A deputy with the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office was also injured in the incident. Baker said the deputy only sustained minor injuries and is okay.
Charleston is currently charged with assault on a federal officer, and Emmett stated additional charges are anticipated.
About 17 officers and agents were involved in Saturday morning’s operation, including those representing the FBI, the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office, the Atlanta Police Department, the Powder Springs Police Department and the Gwinnett County Police Department.
