DALLAS, GA — A Paulding County man accused of severely beating a blind woman was arrested Saturday, according to the sheriff's office.
Charles Brandon Ayers, 37, was taken into custody Saturday afternoon by deputies with the Paulding County Sheriff's Office without incident. He was arrested in western Paulding County and gave up peacefully, deputies say.

Usher and Ayers had been lifelong acquaintances up until the time the beating took place, the sheriff's office said. The two left her Paulding County home on April 26 in a truck owned by her family.
They were gone for three days before Ayers finally dropped Usher off at the Loves Truck Stop in Emerson and asked a friend to take her to the hospital, authorities said.
