📰 News we're reading

1. Inspectors find slimy lettuce, week-old pizza sauce, food and drinks prepped with bare hands (local3news.com) — Whitfield County health inspectors recently rated several Dalton spots, with Chick-fil-A's mobile unit on North Glenwood Avenue earning a 99 and Pho Saigon on Market Street scoring a perfect 100. Other Dalton restaurants, including two McDonald's locations, Red Lobster, Danny's Cafe, and Parker's Restaurant, received mixed but generally passing scores that may influence where you choose to eat out next.

2. Peeples Cancer Institute providing another mammography option (daily-tribune.com) — Dalton-area residents now have a new way to get screening mammograms, thanks to Hamilton's Peeples Cancer Institute mobile coach, Mammography on the go, launched in July. The coach brings the same advanced 3D GE Pristina technology used at PCI directly to workplaces and community sites, with easy scheduling by phone or email and flexible appointment times.

3. Tennessee football offers 2028 Georgia cornerback (usatoday.com) — A standout cornerback from Dalton High School, Franck Atangana, has picked up a scholarship offer from the University of Tennessee, adding to a long list of Power Four programs recruiting him. His growing profile puts Dalton football firmly on the regional recruiting map and gives local fans another homegrown player to follow at the next level.

4. How gas prices have changed in Georgia in the last week (macon.com) — Drivers in Dalton are paying about $3.74 per gallon for regular gas this week, slightly below the statewide average of $3.83. Prices across Georgia dipped a few cents over the last seven days but remain nearly a dollar higher than this time last year, with diesel costs climbing even more sharply.
