- Jack Holley, Jr., a Douglas County resident, was convicted of child molestation and sexual battery of a minor. Following the trial, which began on Sep. 19, Holley was sentenced to 255 years in prison with 20 of them to be served in confinement. He has had several different incidents over the span of 15 years. - The Douglasville Police Department's Fall Festival & Safety Expo will take place this Saturday, Oct. 1. With food, drinks, and desserts for sale, it will be a day of fun and delicious treats! - Singer Arietha Lockhart visited Sweetwater Elementary School this month for a performance full of good music and life lessons. The visit was due to the resources and connections from the Douglasville Cultural Arts Center. One of the goals of her performance and visit was to discuss with the kids what it means to be someone of good character and share how to demonstrate good character themselves. - The Douglas County Education Foundation's Annual Fall Fun Run will take place in just a few weeks! The running will take place on Oct. 15, beginning at 9:00 a.m.! Registration is still open, and those who register in advance will pay $15, whereas same-day registration will cost $20. - The Douglasville Police Department is still investigating the burglary that took place at Kings Smoke and Vape Shop on Sep. 11. They have yet to identify the suspect, but speculate that he may be a local. Anyone with information about the incident or the suspect should contact Detective Brown.
