Dog Rescued From Burning Douglas County Home
The residents of the Sequoia Lane home were able to escape the fire Friday.

DOUGLASVILLE, GA — A Douglas County firefighter and paramedic are being called heroes after rescuing a dog from a Sequoia Lane house fire Friday morning, county fire officials said.
Heavy smoke was seen billowing from the basement when crews arrived, Douglas County Fire Chief Roderick B. Jolivette said in a news release.
Jolivette said the residents escape the burning home unharmed, but told crews their dog, Knala, was missing. The family told firefighters the dog was on the second floor of the house, which was on fire, officials said.

The cause of the fire is being investigated. It was accidental in nature.
Douglas County released the following transcript of the conversation between first responders on the fire department's radio in the rescue of the dog.
“We do have a K-9 on the second floor,” Deputy Fire Chief Miles Allen said.
“Roger that. They are going to look as soon as they can,” Battalion Chief Rusty Shadix said.
“10-4, the door is open in the room that he’s in, so we swept the room that he’s in and the second floor also," Allen said.
“How big a dog are we talking about," Shadix said.
“Medium size pit,” Allen said.
“Clear, Division 2, Squad 10, look for the dog, Division 2,” Shadix said.
“Command, dog has been located. On the way out with it,” Captain Daniel Callan said.
