As a warm-up to this weekend's Harlem Globetrotters appearance at Atlanta's Philips Arena, Buckets Blakes took a visit to Stone Mountain to attempt the team's highest shot -- ever -- in the Globetrotters' 90-year history.

Dad Saves Son From Flying Bat at Braves Spring Training

A Florida man went into full-fledged "Dad-mode" on Saturday to save his 8-year-old son from being hit in the face by an errant bat.

Shaun Cunningham and son Landon were at an Atlanta Braves spring training game against the Pittsburgh Pirates, reports The Daily Mail. Outfielder Danny Ortiz was at the plate for the Bucs when his bat slipped from his hands and went flying toward the stands. >>> Read more.

Burglary Capital of America a Small Georgia County

A small, south Georgia county has been ranked the burglary capital of the United States.

FindtheHome.com researched the the most recent estimates from the American Community Survey (2014) and then determined the U.S. county in every state with the highest burglary rate per 100,000 people. Sumter County, with a population of 31,804, came in at No. 1 on the list. >>> Read more.

'Hidden Figures' Filming in Canton Next Week

20th Century Fox will begin filming scenes for its upcoming movie, "Hidden Figures," on Monday, March 14, in Canton. The movie documents a group of black women who helped NASA with the mathematical data needed to send astronaut John Glenn into space.

Stars include Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer, Janelle Monae and Kevin Costner. The production in downtown Canton also calls for decorating exterior scenes to match 1960s architecture -- and for anyone in the area to stow away any "modern appliances or vehicles" during the shoot. >>> Read more.

Armed Escapee Cooks Breakfast in Restaurant Break-In

An inmate who escaped from prison in South Carolina is back in custody after being caught on video 230 miles away at a Mexican restaurant in East Point, Georgia.

The restaurant's owner told an Atlanta TV station that Reaves appeared to have gone into the kitchen, stolen the restaurant's stash of eggs and cooked them up for a late night-early morning meal. >>> Read more.
