- The Douglas County Board of Commissioners has approved an agreement between the E-911 Operations Center and the Community Services Board to provide care for people in the county experiencing behavioral health emergencies. First responders from the Fire/EMS Department will team up with Georgia-certified and CSB-trained behavioral health professionals from the Never Alone Club House. The co-responder program aims to provide follow-up services to stabilize individuals and reduce the risk of relapse. (Douglas County Georgia)
- The Lithia Springs Public Library is hosting a Story Stroll program, which is part of the Georgia Public Library Service's initiative to provide fun outdoor programming for libraries and their communities. The program involves displaying the pages of a book on signs along an outdoor path, allowing patrons to follow the story and engage in activities as they stroll. The Douglas County Public Libraries plan to secure grant funding to install permanent story walks in various locations, including parks, senior centers, and all three libraries, to offer its citizens a diverse range of programming. - The Cultural Arts Council Douglasville/Douglas County (CAC) is hosting a March Pop Up Arts Shop featuring Nikkistitch's unique cross-stitched designs. Owner Nicole Barnes can create custom cross-stitch or embroidered designs based on a client's specific requests. The Pop Up Arts Shop offers one-of-a-kind gifts made by local artists, and the CAC features a different artist with varying mediums every month, open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Press Release Desk)
- The DPD Youth Against Violence Program aims to equip youth with tools to successfully avoid self-destructive behavior during their adolescent years and transition into young adulthood. The next program session begins on Mar. 18, 2023, at 10:00 a.m., and registration begins at 9:30 a.m. at the Douglasville Police Department Community Room, 2083 Fairburn Road, Douglasville, GA 30135. - The Douglas County Sheriff's Office is organizing the 2nd Annual "Let's Talk About Change" Spring Festival, which will take place on May 6, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Douglas County Sheriff's Office. The event is currently seeking vendors and food vendors, with a fee of $35 and $50, respectively.
