According to Georgia Department of Corrections data, Propps is a multiple offender, having served time six times previously on charges from theft to drug possession and intent to distribute.
The district attorney’s office said Propps was arrested by Douglasville Police in November 2013 at the Hampton Inn in Lithia Springs. Police were investigating drug sales in the parking lot and Propps was a suspect.
Propps told police he was there only to rent a room and claimed to have lost his wallet with his identification, neither of which were true. Propps also gave officers a false name, the district attorney’s office said.
Police found more than 200 grams (.44 pounds) in Propps’ vehicle.
The case was prosecuted by Douglas Assistant District Attorney Steve Knittel.
District Attorney Brian Fortner said that while the DA’s Office continues to try and help drug users beat addiction, “We will not waver and we will continue to aggressively prosecute people like this Defendant who prey on addicts and pollute our community and our streets with poison like Methamphetamine.”
