SR Hwy 92 Groundbreaking Personal For This Politician

Rep. Micah Gravley, (R) Douglasville, District 67, shares some personal feeling about the recent groundbreaking on State Route Highway 92.

DOUGLASVILLE, GA — Another highway project is just a highway project and another groundbreaking is just another groundbreaking, right? Not to Rep. Micah Gravley, (R) Douglasville, District 67. He has allowed Douglasville Patch to share his feeling about the recent State Route Highway 92 groundbreaking in Paulding County.

"In 1974, I was born right here in Georgia," Gravely shared last week on his Facebook page. "The 70’s also saw the brith of an idea, the widening of State Route Hwy 92 (a state Hwy that had been in existence since 1932 and spans primarily North & South.)

"In 1992, I graduated from high school and the official project of widening State Route Hwy 92 was applied for and, application accepted," continued Gravely. "In 1997, I graduated from college and long about that same time the project application stalled. In 2007, I was married and bought a home just west about 3 1/2 miles off of State Route Hwy 92. Funding delays and rumors of an Indiana Bat habitat appeared to be never ending and detrimental to the forward movement of this road project.

"Alas!! In 2014-15, I attended the first phase of the Hwy 92 widening project in Douglas County. On Wed. Jan., 24 2018, I joined U.S. Congressman Tom Graves, Paulding County leaders, Douglas County leaders and, my colleagues in the State Senate, State House, PDOT Officials and Paulding business leaders & citizens for the ground breaking ceremony of the 2nd phase of the widening project of State Route Hwy 92 at the corner of Sweetwater Church and Brownsville Road in Paulding County. It was good day."
