Wounded Girl, 7, Making Progress Month After Murder-Suicide
Jada Brown was injured in Feb. 7 shooting spree that killed five people in Douglasville.

A month after the horrific murder-suicide that left five people dead in Douglasville, the Douglas County District Attorney urged the community on Facebook to “be cognizant of the issues of domestic violence,” and asked for support for the family of the one of the injured children.

It was on Feb. 7, when police said Cedric Prather opened fire on his ex-wife, her boyfriend and several children, including his own, at 3640 Willow Tree Circle.
Killed were Latoya Andrews, 33, Joseph Brown, 33, London Prather, 7, and Jerimiah Prather, 9. Wounded were Brown’s daughter, Jada, 7, and Demesha Owens, 15.

Cedric Prather committed suicide.
The DA’s Office said on Faceook Jada Brown is still in the early stages of recovery at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, but has begun eating food without the aid of a machine.
The Joseph & Jada Family Fund GoFundMe site, which is raising money for Joseph Brown’s funeral expenses and Jada’s ongoing medical costs, posted this recent update:
“Jada is now able to take in food and is conscious of her surroundings! Keep the prayers coming!”
As of Friday afternoon, the site had raised a little more than $2,300; the goal is $10,000.
The DA’s Office also posted this plea: ”If you see someone you know in distress pointing them in the direction of professional help or even just sitting down and talking them through their issues can be the difference between tragedy and heartbreak or healing.”
