10 Fun Things To Do In Chicagoland This Weekend: August 4-6

Great food, fast boats, Lollapalooza and a county fair are among the fun highlighted this weekend in Chicagoland.

CHICAGOLAND -- There’s no excuse to stay home if you live in Chicagoland this weekend. From Chicago to Michigan City, Orland Park to Northbrook and Romeoville to Skokie there is something unique going on. Here’s a look at the best things to do for fun this weekend.

Lollapalooza: Chance The Rapper, Blink-182 and Lorde are among the headliners at the region’s most popular yearly music festival. The acts run from Thursday through Sunday at Grant Park in Chicago.

Taste of Orland Park: More than a dozen Orland Park restaurants have confirmed their participation in the annual summer event held near the village’s Metra station since 2004. Musical acts and an epic mentalist will help round out the fun that takes place from Friday through Sunday in Orland Park.

Taste of Korea: A “taste” of fun isn’t excluded to those in the south suburbs this weekend. North of Chicago will be the Taste of Korea, which will take place on Saturday and Sunday at Westfield Old Orchard Mall in Skokie. The event brings a new level of entertainment and food to the Chicago scene, according to its Facebook page. Traditional and modern Korean food with be paired with local performances at one of the more popular shopping centers of the north suburbs.

Kendall County Fair: Nothing says summer fun like the county fair. This weekend, you can get that experience in Kendall County. The event begins Thursday and runs through Sunday at the Kendall County Fairgrounds, 10826 Route 71. It has daily line-ups to suit an array of interests and ages.

Chicago Emergency Vehicles Show: Also in the southwest suburbs, the Chicago Emergency Vehicles Show runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday in downtown Oswego.

Northbrook Days Festival: A number of Chicago suburbs are holding their most popular festivals this weekend. Northbrook is most definitely one of them. The village's iconic five-day annual festival featuring food, live music, rides, games, beverages runs all week at Village Green Park in downtown Northbrook. New for 2017 is a “Dunk a Northbrook Celebrity” dunk tank on Saturday from noon to 5:00 p.m. with a chance to dunk a notable Northbrook personality.

Great Lakes Grand Prix: A short drive or train ride away from Chicago, a Super Boat International event brings some of the world’s fastest boat racers to beautiful Michigan City, Indiana. A week full of events comes to a head with multiple races from Washington Park on Sunday.

Crossroads Festival: In its 41st year, Crossroads Festival takes place from Aug 4-6. at Cene's Four Season's Par, 25520 W. Seil Road in Shorewood. Carnival rides, games, entertainment, a car show and parade are among the activities planned.

RomeoFest: RomeoFest will return to Deer Crossing Park and Village Park, 900 to 1050 W. Romeo Road in Romeoville, from Thursday through Sunday, featuring a carnival, live music, food vendors, a car show, fireworks and more.

Frankfort Amateur Rib Cook-Off: Amateur chefs in the Lincoln-Way region of Chicagoland will cook for bragging rights. With the tasters sure to be the real winners.
