Roads Shut Down Following Pedestrian Versus Vehicle Incident: Niles PD

Police are asking motorists to find alternate routes following the Sunday crash, the latest in a growing number of similar incidents.

NILES, IL — A pedestrian was struck by a car Sunday morning, shutting down several roads as an investigation into the incident continues. Niles police sent out a traffic alert at around 8 a.m., saying the crash happened in the 7600 block of Dempster Street.

At the time of the alert, all eastbound and westbound lanes of Dempster Street were closed from Ozark Street to Ottawa Avenue. In addition, Ozark Street was closed between Dempster and Crain streets. Police were asking motorists to find alternate routes.
