Memorial Day 2019: Parade, Tributes, Food Fest And More MD Events

From parades and observances honoring fallen troops to a food festival and concerts, here's a list Maryland Memorial Day 2019 events.

MARYLAND — The weather should be perfect on Memorial Day, and communities across Maryland have plenty of parades, ceremonies and more planned to mark the holiday. There will be a bounty of celebrations both solemn — recognition for Maryland soldiers killed in the line of duty at a ceremony and in some restaurants — and fun, from a scavenger hunt at Sandy Point State Park to a parade in Annapolis and the Hometown Holidays festival in Rockville.

Also set are a military band concert and wreath-laying in Bel Air, a free concert by the Naval Academy and Marine Corps bands, a carnival in Crofton, a challenge to raise money for the Navy SEAL Foundation and White Marsh Volunteer Fire Company. Plus enjoy Taste of Rockville food fest, a three-mile walk to honor fallen service members and their families in Gambrills/Odenton, and a remembrance service May 30, at the American Legion in Perry Hall followed by hot dogs and hamburgers.

Read more about these and other activities available to mark the holiday, plus a reminder on the best and worst times to travel, especially if you are going to the Eastern Shore.
