Family Tied Up For Hours In Home Invasion, 5 Suspects Charged

Five suspects have been arrested for holding a Silver Spring family hostage overnight in their apartment, police said. At about 8:12 a.m. Aug. 2, officers responded to the 8800 block of Manchester Rd. for the report of a home invasion robbery. A woman told officers that five suspects entered her apartment, bound them and kept them like that overnight before they fled from the home early in the morning.

Confederate Statues: Baltimore, Statehouse Renew Efforts To Remove Controversial Memorials

Following the fatal Nazi-flavored white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, that left three people dead last weekend, Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh has renewed efforts to remove four Confederate monuments in Baltimore, according to reports. And the Maryland Speaker of the House says a monument to Roger Taney, the Supreme Court justice who authored the decision that declared slaves were property and couldn't be freed if they moved to a free state, should be removed from the statehouse in Annapolis.
