Why are you seeking elected office?
I am running for School Committee to help guide our education system forward with a practical, data-driven approach. As a physician, nonprofit leader, former Pierce and BHS parent, and parent of four including a child with special needs, I understand both the human side of education and the importance of making sound, sustainable decisions. My campaign is rooted in collaboration, transparency, and a commitment to long-term strength for every student and family.
The single most-pressing issue facing our (board, district, etc.) is __________ and this is what I intend to do about it.
Brookline’s schools are at an important inflection point. We are facing real financial pressures, welcoming new district administration, and navigating complex community expectations about academic rigor, equity, and long-term sustainability. I have led organizations through periods of transition like this before. Times of administrative changeover, limited resources, and high expectations require steady hands and clear thinking. I know how to ask hard questions and analyze budgets and trade-offs. I also know how to support effective leadership and keep organizations focused on their core mission. When leaders listen carefully, build consensus, and ground decisions in data, periods of transition can become opportunities to strengthen institutions and improve outcomes.
If given the opportunity to serve on the School Committee:
I will use data and best practices to support effective instruction and optimize student outcomes.
I will apply real-world budget experience to make thoughtful, responsible, and transparent financial decisions.
I will fortify the School Committee’s role as a focused, strategic, and financially disciplined governing body.
I will facilitate strong partnerships between families, educators, and administrators.
I will ensure our education system continues to unite Brookline around shared values and purpose.
What are the critical differences between you and other candidates seeking this post?
My background gives me a unique combination of skills and experience needed to meet this moment:
I bring real-world budget proficiency, refined in volunteer governance of local nonprofits and as Medical Director, Chief Medical Officer, Founder, CEO, consultant, and advisor to over a dozen digital health startups and small companies.
Years of guiding organizations through lean times have given me a unique ability to turn constraint into clarity and opportunity.
My 20-year practice as a physician and medical educator has honed my evidence-based decision-making skills.
I bring the ability to find common ground and build consensus
As a parent of children with special needs, I am sensitive and empathetic to children’s unique educational journeys.
I bring a collaborative, steady approach that values listening and transparency.
Describe the other issues that define your campaign platform.
I am focused on supporting academic excellence, building trust across the community, and ensuring high-quality schooling for each and every student. I believe we must support each child's challenges, and help each child achieve their highest potential.
I also believe we must create a strategic plan and update policy and procedures related to technology use, including addressing:
Student use of phones in the school building
Student use of social media and AI
PSB use of educational technology
Investment in technology tools to improve data transparency and potentially to free staff from repetitive tasks and enable them to spend more time with students.
The best advice ever shared with me was:
We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them. (Albert Einstein)
What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
School Committee service is about stewardship: setting clear priorities, asking the right questions, and ensuring all decisions advance student learning and long-term sustainability. I believe my background and skills uniquely position me to contribute meaningfully to that work, and to help guide Brookline’s education system through this period with care, clarity, and purpose.
