Acupuncture Business Takes A Stab At Wellness In Malden

The city announced the company's arrival on Monday.

MALDEN, MA — The city celebrated the arrival of an acupuncture business this week.

Mayor Gary Christenson headlined a list of attendees for a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony of CBS Acupuncture’s newest location at 210 Pleasant St. According to Christenson, the company offers medical acupuncture, cupping therapy, herbal medicine, and holistic wellness treatments that are derived from a combination of traditional Chinese medicine and modern medical research.

CBS was founded by Dr. Weihui “Wendy” Li in 2013. The acronym in its name stands for “Circulation, Balance, and Stability.” Li earned her PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Tulane University before conducting her fellowship at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Massachusetts General Hospital. Her other degrees include a Master’s in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from Tsinghua University in China. The first CBS location was opened in Framingham. In the last 13 years, the company has expanded to a total of 10 spots throughout the state.
