MALDEN, MA — The police department arrested a man on multiple drug and firearm-related charges this past weekend.
Devyne Yosantos Germain, 35, was pulled over while driving his vehicle by Officer Blake Ferry at the corner of Porter Street and Salem Street shortly after 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 18. Crack cocaine, oxycontin, adderall, and a firearm were found illegally in Germain's possession. He was officially charged with trafficking a Class B substance of 18 or more grams, possession with intention to distribute Class B and E drugs, possession of a large capacity firearm, improper storage of a large capacity firearm, firearm use in a felony, unlawful possession of ammunition, possession of a large capacity feeding device, possession in felony of a firearm with a defaced serial number, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, a license plate violation, and failure to wear a seat belt.
The department said that Germain was hiding his weapon in a child car seat.
“If you’re thinking about interacting with these officers and attempting to hide drugs, it’s probably not going to work out the way you hoped,” the department said in a statement. “Consider this your friendly reminder, again: don’t push drugs in Malden.”
Officers Scott Chalmers, Dave Kessler, and Cam Selfridge assisted Ferry in making the arrest. Captain Marc Gatcomb told Patch that Germain has yet to be arraigned in court as of Monday afternoon.
