The suspect is a resident of the neighboring city of Melrose.

MALDEN, MA — The police department announced that it has arrested a person it believes to be connected to a series of assaults.

Ralph Fleuristil, 34, was apprehended at his Melrose residence at approximately 6 a.m. Friday morning on Ferdinand Street after Malden officers had arrived with a warrant for his arrest and search warrant for his property. According to the department, Fleuristil is responsible for multiple incidents that took place in the vicinity of the Malden Center MBTA orange line and bus station. Two of the assaults have been identified as sexually motivated, with the female victims being identified by police. Those incidents reportedly took place sometime around Sunday, Jan. 18. However, police believe there are at least two more women who are victims of assault and have not yet come forward.
Police said the acquisition of video footage was crucial in leading them to Fleuristil. Due to additional unidentified victims, police are asking community members with relevant information to contact the case’s lead Detective David Yung at 781-397-7181.

The Malden Special Operations Unit assisted in arresting Fleuristil.
