'No Kings' Rally Making A Return To Malden
A well-known politician is expected to attend and lend support.
MALDEN, MA — A popular political rally is returning to the city this weekend featuring a prominent guest.
A “No Kings” protest is expected to take place outside City Hall Plaza on 215 Pleasant St. on Saturday, March 28. Participants will come together at approximately 11 a.m., with organizers expecting the event to last 90 minutes.
The No Kings movement gained national attention last year when millions of people participated in coordinated protests in thousands of cities and towns. Organized by a coalition of progressive groups, the protests aimed to reject the policies and actions of President Donald Trump and his administration. The No Kings message is centered on defending democratic institutions and ensuring that political power remains with the public rather than concentrated in a single leader.

This upcoming rally, which is so-sponsored by Malden Democrats and Mystic Valley Progressives, is welcoming Democratic Minority WHIP Katherine Clark to join them in their cause and speak during the event. The Mystic Valley Progressives is a local branch of the national organizing group Indivisible, which is responsible for organizing “No Kings” gatherings throughout the nation.
“We have the power and are claiming it together. No Thrones. No Crowns. No Kings,” the rally’s organizers said in a statement. “A core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.”
