Funding Complete For Garden Honoring Marathon Bombing Victims

The city announced that it has acquired the $1.28 million needed to construct the Krystle Campbell Peace Garden.

An idea for a garden nearby City Hall commemorating victims of the 2013 Boston Marathon bombings came closer to an actuality this morning, as the City of Medford announced its successful raising of $1.28 million for the project.

In a statement to the media, Medford Mayor Michael J. McGlynn noted that the planned Krystle Campbell Peace Garden will honor Campbell, who resided in Medford, as well as all other victims of the bombings, including those who survived their injuries.

In an interview with WBZ-TV, Campbell’s parents expressed much gratitude, as well as pleasant surprise about the ambitious project

“We just thought it was nice to have a bench,“ Patty Campbell told the source. “Never in our wildest dreams did we think it would get this big.”
