Medford Fills Out New Neighborhood Ambassador Taskforce

The city began seeking applicants in February.

MEDFORD, MA — The office of Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koehn announced that the new Neighborhood Ambassador Taskforce has been fully assembled.

The group is composed of 13 members from the Haines Square, Hillside, Lawrence Estates, Wellington, North Medford, South Medford, and West Medford neighborhoods of the city. Their mission as members is to to increase and enhance communication among all residents throughout the city between themselves and Medford’s government.

The mayor’s office began soliciting applications in February. Lungo-Koehn said she was looking for residents with pre-existing community involvement and availability to meet on a regular basis with her staff.

The task force shares similarities with the Medford Connects community engagement team, which is also operated by the city. Earlier this year, Medford Connects was also seeking volunteers to help execute social initiatives. The team works to strengthen social and climate resiliency by connecting all residents, including those most vulnerable to climate change, with resources, programs, and opportunities that support their well-being.

“With a city as diverse as Medford, it’s important that we gather as much input and feedback as possible to ensure that we’re effectively engaging people on all the important issues, programs and services that our City offers,” Lungo-Koehn said. “Having these neighborhood ambassadors deeply embedded in our communities will help enhance our public-facing communications and make sure all local voices and priorities are heard. I encourage anyone who has strong community ties to apply and help us improve our outreach strategy.”
