School Closures, Parking Ban As Blizzard Hits Medford
Parts of Middlesex County have seen more than 15 inches of snow.
MEDFORD, MA — A major blizzard is hitting Massachusetts, and many communities in are dealing with well over one foot of snow.
Parts of Middlesex County have seen more than 15 inches of snow, as of 1 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. A state of emergency remains in effect across the state, and Medford took precautions ahead of the storm, including closing schools and non-essential town offices.
Medford closed all municipal buildings and public schools for Monday, Feb. 23. In addition, the city is asking residents to stay off the roads and avoid on-street parking on certain streets as part of a Parking Ban that went into effect on Sunday at 5 p.m. and will remain in effect until further notice.

"On secondary roads, parking is allowed on the odd side of the street only. Cars parked on the even side of the street during snow emergencies will be ticketed and towed unless the street has been granted an exemption by the Traffic Commission," Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koehn said in a statement.
All vehicles parked on primary roadways or the even side of secondary streets could be ticketed or towed while the ban is in place.

Trash and recycling collection was also cancelled for Monday and will be delayed by one day for the rest of the week for all residents.
