UPDATED: Serious Injuries in Fiery McGrath Highway Crash
A medical incident appears to have caused the collision that seriously injured a Medford woman and others.

A substantial car crash on McGrath Highway took place Friday morning, and one of the vehicles involved erupted into a fireball.
Fox reports that five vehicles were in the accident. Three individuals were rushed to the hospital with serious injuries, including a 56-year-old Somerville woman and a 26-year-old Medford woman whose car exploded. The source says a 16-year-old pedestrian was among the three seriously injured, although his condition is not thought to be life-threatening.

According to Fox, authorities suspect the collision was caused when the 56-year-old had a medical incident behind the wheel.
The Boston Globe says the crash took place at about 7:15 a.m.

The portion of McGrath around the Highland Ave. intersection was partially closed for a time, and has since reopened.
