She is a wonderful string instrument player.( (http://bethcohen.com)

This past concert with Turkish Music was yet another jewel among her concerts.

Fortunately enough it was some people in the audience, mostly students of course, because the concert was a part of a studying process on ethnic music.

As usual, Beth was on stage with a few great musicians and singers by the names of Burcu Gulec and Mehmet Ali Sanhkol. It was a group known as a “Dunya” ensemble based in Boston, MA

There was also beautiful music and Sufi poetry of 13 - 20 centuries by Pir Sultan Abdal and Yunus Emre. Here is an example of this poetry:

“What is the purpose of learning?

A person must know the Truth

After all of your study if you do not know the Truth

Then you’re nothing but a piece of dry bread”

The opportunity allows you to learn about the different instruments and Turkish music in general.

Don’t miss it, come to the concerts and exhibits at Tufts.
