Newton City Council Chairs Endorse Mayor Ruthanne Fuller
All seven Chairs applauded Fuller for her leadership, communication, and improvements to the city.

NEWTON, MA â The Chairs of each Newton City Council committee have endorsed Mayor Ruthanne Fuller in her run for re-election as Mayor of Newton.
The following city officials applauded Fuller for her leadership and expressed confidence in her next term:
- Becky Grossman, Chair of the Finance Committee
- Josh Krintzman, Chair of the Programs and Services Committee
- Alison Leary, Chair of the Public Facilities Committee
- Andreae Downs, Chair of the Public Safety and Transportation Committee
- Deb Crossley, Chair of the Zoning and Planning Committee
- Holly Ryan, Former LGBTQ+ Liaison in the Mayorâs Office
- Vicki Danberg, Chair of the Real Property Reuse Committee
âI'm proud to support Mayor Ruthanne Fuller's reelection," said Grossman in a statement. "As Chair of the City Council's Finance Committee, I have a front row seat to Ruthanne's strong financial management acumen. She has maintained the City's Triple A bond rating and, in the face of the pandemic, has adapted so that we have the financial groundwork to move forward with our Capital Improvement Projects like a new home for the Newton Early Childhood Program.â

"Mayor Fuller is undaunted by hard work - and in fact, seems to thrive on it. I am grateful to have a mayor who demonstrates her love of our community by working so hard for us.â
âRuthanne did an excellent job of communicating with our residents and helping to get our city through an extremely difficult time," said Krintzman in a statement. "Her thoughtful and steady leadership served the city well. I look forward to working with Ruthanne for four more years to keep moving Newton forward as we tackle the challenges ahead.â

The endorsement from the City Council Chairs come after Fuller's endorsement from EMILY's List, a national organization dedicated to promoting women candidates for office, National Champion for Women's Equality Barbara Lee, a group of local environmental leaders, former Mayor of Newton and State Representative from the 11th Middlesex District David Cohen, Newton City Council President Susan Albright and Vice President Rick Lipof, Rep. Kay Khan, Congressman Jake Auchincloss, and former Rep. Joe Kennedy.
Last week, Fuller was also endorsed by the North Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters, the first union to endorse a candidate in this year's mayoral election, and Engine 6, a voluntary association of Newton residents who advocate for fair, affordable, abundant, and diverse housing.
