1 Fugitive Found, Another Still At-Large: New Hampshire Department Of Corrections
Jake Hagy was arrested by Somersworth police last month; Mark Stephan Maynard is wanted on a probation violation after issuing bad checks.
CONCORD, NH — A New Hampshire Department of Corrections fugitive of the week was arrested last month by police, not long after being featured by investigators.
Jake W. Hagy, 34, was wanted on a parole violation after being convicted on first-degree assault with a deadly weapon, robbery, and receiving stolen property charges and was featured in mid-April. Not long after being featured, Somersworth police were searching an apartment building for a person when they encountered Hagy “sitting in the stairwell, sifting through drug paraphernalia,” a report stated. An officer recognized him, checked him for warrants, and confirmed his fugitive status.
“Hagy fully cooperated and was taken into custody on the parole warrant as well as an additional failure to appear warrant out of Belknap County Superior Court,” a report stated.

The department is also searching for Mark Stephan Maynard, a parolee accused of having “violent tendencies” who is wanted on a probation warrant as well as new charges out of Florida.
Maynard is 48, white, about 5 feet, 8 inches tall, and weighs around 220 pounds. He has brown hair and blue eyes. Sometimes, according to investigators, he has used the aliases “Mark Chime” and “Mark Lafond.” Maynard has several tattoos, including a pit bull on his upper left arm, M. Jordan 23 on his upper right arm, a cross with the words “mom and dad” on his chest, a basketball into a hoop on his right shoulder, and other tattoos on his left and right calves.
Maynard has not been seen since October 2023, after the Merrimack County Superior Court issued a warrant for his arrest on a probation violation. He also has active charges out of Polk County, Florida, for grand theft-defrauding a financial institution, and resisting arrest and motor vehicle violations in Rockingham County.
“Recent information received suggests that Maynard may be working as a contractor, engaged in scams by collecting deposits and not completing the work in local communities, but no charges are pending,” an alert stated.
Maynard has ties to many communities in the southern part of New Hampshire.
According to superior court records, Maynard’s criminal history dates back more than two decades.
In 2002, he was accused of issuing bad checks in Claremont and Pembroke and pleaded guilty to four of the six charges.
In November 2005, he was accused of being a habitual offender in Auburn and pleaded guilty to the charge in July 2006.
Maynard was charged with 18 counts of theft by deception and issuing a bad check in Manchester in March 2011. The charges stemmed from incidents in May, August, and September 2010. He pleaded guilty to 11 counts and received several three-and-a-half to 12-year sentences and was also ordered to pay close to $31,000 in restitution.
In April 2011, Maynard was charged with theft by deception and two issuing a bad check charges from June 2010 in Manchester. The charges were dismissed months later.
Maynard was arrested again on theft and check charges, 11 counts, in Chichester and Manchester in 2020 and 2021. In June 2022, he received various sentences and was ordered to pay about $27,000 in restitution.
Maynard was accused of violating probation or parole in October 2023.
