Bevy Of Candidates To Attend NEC College Convention: FITN 2020
Roundup: New Hampshire first-in-the-nation presidential candidates hold town halls, launch new ads, and prep for the Iowa debate in 9 days.

CONCORD, NH — With voting about a month away, New Hampshire first-in-the-nation presidential hopefuls are descending on the state in a mad dash to get to as many voters as possible. While 50 people from both political parties paid a $1,000 fee to obtain ballot access in the state, Democrats are down to about 14 major candidates — including four frontrunners and four others with the potential to win enough voters to crack the Top 5. Getting in front of as many people as possible, as well as influencing young people who perform a lot of the campaign tasks on the ground, is why many of the candidates will be in Manchester this week attending New England College's College Convention 2020.
The convention, which begins with a registration Sunday and runs through Thursday at the DoubleTree Manchester Downtown Hotel, is the sixth time NEC has sponsored the event, according to Wayne Lesperance, the vice president of Academic Affairs and political science professor at the school. Eleven candidates, including Democrats U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet, former U.S. Rep. John Delaney, U.S. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar, former Gov. Deval Patrick, U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders, Tom Steyer, Marianne Williams, Andrew Yang, and Dr. Jill Biden, the former vice president's wife, as well as former U.S. Rep. Joe Walsh and Gov. William Weld, both Republicans, are confirmed to be in attendance or appearing via video sometime during the week.
"We are thrilled by the response from campaigns, and appreciate that they view this as an outstanding opportunity to speak directly to young people who are deeply engaged in this process," Lesperance said. "The audience will be engaged and students are excited to participate."

Not unlike the Concord Monitor's recent experiment with ranked-choice voting, the event will allow conventiongoers to cast a ballot choosing three candidates. The results will be tabulated and discussed Thursday.
Along with candidate speeches and town halls, sessions include discussions about the divided state of the nation, campaign management, nuclear proliferation, the national debt, and stories from the campaign trail. The event also gives students the opportunity to earn a college credit for attending the sessions. Lesperance said the event was open to not only students but the general public — so long as they are New Hampshire voters.

Two Debates Before NH Votes
As was recently announced, there will be two more debates between the Democrats before New Hampshire voters go to the polls.
CNN and The Des Moines Register are hosting a debate at Drake University on Jan. 14 and St. Anselm College in Manchester will be the location of the Feb. 7 debate hosted by ABC News, WMUR-TV, and Apple News.
According to the Washington Post, only five candidates have qualified for the Iowa debate: Former Vice President Joe Biden, South Bend, IN Mayor Pete Buttigieg, Klobuchar, Sanders, and U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren. To qualify, candidates need to hit at least 5 percent in four Democratic National Committee-approved national polls or 7 percent in two early voting state polls and have at least 225,000 unique donors.
Both Yang and Steyer have met the donor threshold but not with polls. Former NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg is not accepting donations which means he will miss that threshold.
Yang And His Gang Party In NH
Due to time constraints, I was unable to put together a second post about Andrew Yang's visit to Concord on New Year's Eve (Here's the first post, ICYMI: Andrew Yang: 'We're Going To Shock The World In February'). But the second video was completed. Here's some of what you missed.
Buttigieg's New Ad …

Gabbard Calls Drone Attack 'Act Of War'
The anti-war candidate and active duty representative is also calling for the United States to get out of both Iraq and Syria.
