CONCORD, NH — A man found guilty of stabbing and killing a Concord woman in 2017 has been sentenced to 15 to 30 years in prison. Daswan Jette, 22, was sentenced in Merrimack County Superior Court Wednesday after being convicted of manslaughter in the death of Sabrina Galusha, 23, at the Penacook Place apartment complex in May 2017. Jette was convicted on Jan. 29 of stabbing Galusha during a marijuana deal that went bad.

Galusha, a native of the city and a state employee, was stabbed after Jette swiped a baggie of marijuana from her and fled into an apartment building, according to police. Galusha and a few friends confronted him in an effort to get the marijuana back. Jette pulled out a knife and refused to give the baggie back.

During a struggle, Jette stabbed Galusha in the buttocks. After Galusha and her friends fled to a car, Jette chased after them, reached into the vehicle, and stabbed Galusha multiple times in the knee and chest. Her friends attempted to get her to Concord Hospital but called EMTs to meet them along the way due to the severity of her injuries. Galusha later died at the hospital.

According to the New Hampshire Attorney General's Office, the sentence was "stand committed" at the New Hampshire State Prison, meaning he must serve the time in jail for the full sentence. Some in the community had worried the manslaughter conviction, after being indicted on first- and second-degree murder counts, might lead to a lighter sentence. Jette claimed self-defense during the trial, saying he felt threatened.

The case was prosecuted by Senior Assistant Attorney General Benjamin Agati and Assistant Attorney General Nicole Clay and investigated by Concord Police Department.

A family contact did not return a request for comment via email about the sentencing at post time.
