CONCORD, NH — A Florida man faces felony charges after a high-speed chase through two states Thursday.
Around 10 p.m., New Hampshire State Police received a report about a vehicle with Florida plates fleeing from police in Portsmouth on Islington Street. The car, identified as a 2014 Audi Q5, was spotted a few minutes later, getting gas on the Route 1 Bypass, according to Amber Lagace, a public information officer for the department.
“As troopers made contact with the operator of the suspect vehicle, the operator started the suspect vehicle and accelerated out of the parking lot, dragging a trooper for a short distance until the trooper disengaged,” she said. “Subsequently, the suspect vehicle fled at a high rate of speed while displaying no exterior lighting, thereafter, entering the town of Kittery, Maine, at which point Troopers lost visual contact with the vehicle.”

Elderly Man Dies In Swanzey Crash
New Hampshire State Police are investigating a fatal crash in Swanzey from March 20.
Around 8:45 a.m., troopers were sent to Route 10 near Sawyers Crossing Road to assist police with a severe crash. When they arrived, they found a 2019 GMC Acadia had crashed into a 2019 Kia Sorento.
Lagace said troopers determined the GMC, being driven by Leslie C. Keeton, 81, of Swanzey, was driving south when it crossed the road's center line and struck the Kia, which was traveling north. Both Keeton and Jocelyn L. Shelley-Blanchard, 41, of Swanzey, the driver of the Kia, were taken to the hospital. An infant passenger in the Kia was not injured, she said. Keeton was pronounced dead at Cheshire Medical Center.
Route 10 was closed for several hours during the investigation. Swanzey police and firefighters, DiLuzio Ambulance, and the NH DOT assisted troopers.
