CONCORD, NH — The New Hampshire Attorney General's Office and the Concord Police Department are asking for the public's help locating a "person of interest" in the murder of a Concord man Friday. Marshall John Villeneuve, 64, of Pitman Street in Concord, was found dead in his apartment due to multiple stab wounds, according to Christine James, New Hampshire's associate medical examiner. The manner of death has been ruled a homicide.

Investigators, according to the attorney general's office, are attempting to locate Joseph King Hanright, 29, formerly of Allenstown and Derry, a convicted thief involved in other crimes, who is wanted for questioning.

Villeneuve was killed on Friday. His body was discovered at just before 8 p.m. after a tenant of the Crutchfield Building reporting hearing a loud bang in neighboring apartment and then saw a man fleeing the scene. When the tenant went to check on his neighbor, he found blood everywhere and called police. Other tenants reported hearing the loud bang and suspected that it was a possible shooting.

Investigators were at the building for many hours on Friday night and Saturday morning, speaking to witnesses and gathering evidence. During the course of the investigation, Hanright was identified as a person of interest in the case.

On Saturday, the Mazda 3 turned up in Methuen, Massachusetts, with a man matching the description of Hanright leaving the stolen vehicle in an attempt to elude police. Methuen police called in a K-9 unit and a helicopter to search the city but were unable to find the suspect, who is still at-large. It is believed that Hanright was picked up by someone but the attorney general's office reported this evening that he is believed to still be in the Methuen area.

Villeneuve, according to tenants at the building, was known for allowing homeless people to sleep in his apartment for $10 a night.

Hanright is no stranger to police. In April 2018, he and Amanda Bailey-Roberge of Weare were accused of attempting to rob the Kohl's in Hooksett. Hanright was out on probation-parole at the time of the incident. He was previously convicted on theft charges after being arrested in 2014, and 2016, in Concord.

Riverbend Community Mental Health has reached out to tenants in the building to let them know that mobile crisis staffers will be available on Sunday and Monday "for anyone who feels they need support." Tenants don't have to be a client of Riverbend to use the service.

Anyone who may have information on Hanright’s whereabouts is asked to call Lt. Sean Ford of the Concord Police Department at 603-225-8600 or the Concord Regional Crimeline at 603-226-3100, or to call their local law enforcement agency. Tips can be left with the Crimeline anonymous.
