Man Got Car With Cash Raised For Murdered Woman’s Funeral: Cops

Concord Police: Jeffrey Grenier set up a GoFundMe account for Sabrina Galusha's family and then, stiffed them, spent some cash on a new car.

CONCORD, NH — After a multi-month investigation, Concord Police have arrested a Queen City man on a felony theft charge for allegedly spending money he raised to pay for a slain woman’s funeral expenses. Jeffrey Grenier, 25, of Manchester, was arrested on Nov. 29, 2017, on a single felony theft by unauthorized taking charge. According to Lt. Sean Ford, the commander of the criminal investigations unit of the Concord Police Department, Grenier was charged after police discovered earlier this year that he had spent money raised via a GoFundMe site set up to raise funds to offset the funeral expenses of Sabrina Galusha, a woman allegedly murdered earlier this year by Daswan "Dee Bang" Jette, in a drug deal gone bad.

The fund was sent up on June 1, the day after Galusha was stabbed, for the “stated purpose to assist Galusha’s family with funeral expenses,” Ford noted. In about 24 hours, more than $5,400 was raised.

"For those who knew Sabrina, she was a kind, caring, and loving person," Grenier wrote on the GoFundMe site at the time. "She always knew how to make anyone smile. Anything will help in this time of grievance."

A few days later, the family reached out to Grenier about use of the funds, Ford noted. But by late June, they still hadn't received any money and suspected that it was stolen, so the family met with police.

“Over the course of the next several months Concord Police detectives obtained evidence which established that the money from the GoFundMe campaign was deposited into Grenier’s personal bank account,” Ford alleged. “Detectives learned that, on the very day that the funds were made available to him, Grenier used a portion of the money to purchase a new car for himself.”

Investigators are asking the public for any information pertaining to the investigation. Contact Lt. Sean Ford at 603-225-8600 or the Concord Regional Crimeline 603-226-3100 if you have information about the case.

Previously, according to a post on Patch, Grenier was arrested for theft in March 2015, after an alleged incident at the Spirit of Halloween store at the Steeplegate Mall in Concord.

Jette was indicted on the murder charge in late August.
