The Most-Read Stories On Patch In New Hampshire For 2022
The Harmony Montgomery murder case, fatal shootings, crashes, and an unqualified school superintendent were some of NH's top headlines.

CONCORD, NH — The year 2022 is about to close, and, not unlike the annual Christmas video, I’m a little late with the most-read stories of the year post.
Instead of offering a post to have everyone guess this year, we’ll just tell you the top stories … groan … yeah, I like guessing, too. But we’re all up against the clock for the end of the year.
This year, Patch in New Hampshire produced a lot of content and logged in nearly 17 million page views on our stories and posts. We had a busy mid-term election season, there have been fires, accidents, and a lot of crime in the state, including the horrible deaths of two children, Harmony Montgomery and Elijah Lewis. There were some fun things, too — videos, restaurant and business features, holiday-themed posts, and event listings.

Usually, it is easy to winnow them down around award entry time. But not easy when scrambling for the year-end post.
I was pleased with how the story, Missing Girl's Father: 16 Years Of Crime In NH, Massachusetts, came out, which looked into Adam Montgomery’s violent and sordid criminal history.
I also enjoyed putting together this story about Ted Arcidi, an actor, former weightlifter, and former WWF wrestler who has worked for years to preserve Ryefield Farm along the Souhegan River in Milford from development.
The two stories about employment issues and sexual harassment claims inside the Merrimack County Sheriff’s Office and the story about the Concord school board member refusing to resign, despite no longer living in her district, were all exclusives to Patch and good investigations, too.
I’m also proud of all of the work put into the tragic April 18 murders of Stephen and Djeswende Reid of Concord; dozens of stories, posts, and updates eyeing all kinds of angles, including this story, which gives a profound overview of how detectives tracked down a suspect: Concord Detectives Use Bullet Evidence, Alias To Find Suspected Killer.
This follow-up on the Tippy McBride case, winning nine New Hampshire Press Association awards, writing breaking news stories, notes in Neighbor Posts, and all kinds of other things — close to 4,000 stories and posts, made 2022 a compelling year for news and information.
I also want to thank news partner Jeffrey Hastings of Frame of Mind Photography, who published many of the year's top stories. I would also like to thank NEWS 603 for his photo and video contributions. Also, thank you to InDepthNH, NH Journal, and New Hampshire Bulletin for their news partner contributions to Patch.
