Newmarket Motorcyclist Dies In Route 101 Crash: New Hampshire State Police Roundup

Plus: Vermont teen wrong way driver not charged after crash in Candia; blotters from around New Hampshire.

CONCORD, NH — A man from Newmarket died after a motorcycle crash on Route 101 in Candia on Saturday night.

Around 6:30 p.m., New Hampshire State Police were sent to a crash on the eastbound side of the highway. When troopers and EMTs arrived, they found a man on the road and a 2004 Harley-Davidson motorcycle.

Ralph Cummings, 44, of Newmarket was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The preliminary investigation determined that the adult male motorcycle operator had been traveling at a high rate of speed in an easterly direction along Route 101,” Tyler Dumont, the public information officer for state police, said. “Witnesses reported Cummings lost control of the motorcycle in a fishtailing fashion, then crashed within the travel lanes of the road.”

Cummings also was not wearing a helmet. There were no passengers or other vehicles involved in the crash.

Multiple agencies assisted Troop A Troopers, including the Candia Police Department, the Raymond Police Department, Candia Fire and Rescue, the Auburn Fire Department and Precision Towing & Recovery.

A teen from Vermont has not been charged after a two-vehicle crash on Friday in Candia.

Around 2:30 p.m., state police were sent to the westbound side of the highway for a crash between a Subaru Impreza, driven by Michael Mallet, 18, of Calais, Vermont, and a Chevrolet pickup towing a trailer. Mallet was accused of wrong-way driving and then changing lanes and crashing into the truck. The truck flipped, and both vehicles stopped in the median.

A 24-year-old Londonderry man was injured during the crash with a head injury and taken to Elliot Hospital. A juvenile passenger in the Subaru was not harmed.

The highway was closed for around 90 minutes, Dumont said. State police were assisted by Auburn and Candia police, Auburn and Candia fire and rescue and the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office.

State police believe there were additional witnesses to this crash and asked anyone who hasn’t yet spoken with investigators to contact Trooper Chris Houston at Christopher.E.Houston@dos.nh.gov or through State Police dispatch at 603-223-4381.

Caleb Alan Stiles, 31, of Hampton was arrested at 9:29 p.m. on May 3 on a DUI charge in Hampton.

Leonard Allen Cooper, 23, of Manchester was arrested on a warrant at 9:17 p.m. on May 3 in Ryamond.

Shirley Maryann Stanley, 23, of Manchester was arrested at 9:17 p.m. on May 3 on reckless operation, speeding-25-plus over the 65 limit, two reckless conduct, and two endangering the welfare of a child charges, as well as unsafe lane change, fail-yield. Emergency vehicle, following too closely, and two child restraint violations in Candia.

Joshua M. Dubay, 42, of Seabrook was arrested on a bench warrant at 4:34 p.m. on May 3 in Portsmouth.

Modesto Lopez Ordonez, 28, of Waterbury, Connecticut, was arrested at 7:03 p.m. on May 2 on an operating without a valid license charge in Hampton.

Nicole Lynn Kashian, 42, of Exeter was arrested on a warrant at 10:27 a.m. on April 30 in Greenland.

Christopher Edward Henrickson, 40, of Rochester was arrested on a warrant at 9:01 a.m. on April 30 in Rochester.

Parker Burnham Cox, 18, of Candia was arrested at 6:53 p.m. on April 29 on a reckless operation charge and an unsafe lane change violation in Greenaldn.

Brett R. Karkos, 48, of Rollinsford was arrested on a bench warrant at 4:56 p.m. on April 29 in Dover.

Brian M. Jones, 41, of Wilmington, Delaware, was arrested at 7:40 a.m. on May 5 on reckless conduct, reckless operation, and felon in possession of a dangerous weapon charges. Also arrested was Derrick J. Pogue, 27, of Concord on a felon in possession of a dangerous weapon charge. They were arrested in Concord.

Bryan Edward Day, 56, of Northfield was arrested on a warrant in Bow at 3:39 a.m. on May 5.

Juan Bautista Guzman Montes, 29, of Laconia was arrested at 2:18 a.m. on May 5 on DUI and operating without a valid license charges after an incident in Bow.

Oscar Ortiz Rodriguez, 39, of Moultonborough was arrested at 6:36 p.m. on May 4 on a reckless operation charge in Sanbornton.

Marc R. Parker, 35, of Concord was arrested on a warrant at 5:37 p.m. on May 4.

Michael James MacNeilly, 28, of Manchester was arrested at 12:30 p.m. on April 23 on criminal mischief, domestic violence-obstructing report of a crime-injury, and six domestic violence-simple assault charges in Bedford.
