New Hampshire State Police stated Thursday, the body found in the Piscataqua River on May 3 was connected to a man who jumped off the Interstate 95 bridge in Portsmouth.

Around 12:15 a.m., troopers were sent to the southbound side of the highway, just before the toll booth, for a truck that crashed into a guardrail. The truck, a Ford Super Duty pickup, was towing a car trailer and sustained damage after the crash. Dumont stated there was debris across lanes on both sides of the highway.

The driver, Shelia Carpio, 37, of Brandon, Florida, was driving the truck even though she had a suspended license. She was charged with negligent driving and operating after suspension. A passenger, who owned the truck, was not injured during the crash.

Dumont said the high-speed lane of I-95 was closed for about three hours during the cleanup and investigation.

“While all aspects of the crash remain under investigation, fatigue and driver inexperience are believed to have been contributing factors,” Dumont said.

Anyone who may have info about the crash was asked to contact Trooper Patrick Vetter at Patrick.R.Vetter@dos.nh.gov or 603-223-4381.
