Pickup Truck Driver Killed During Crash; Beware NH DMV Scam; More: NH State Police Roundup

CONCORD, NH — New Hampshire State Police troopers are investigating a fatal crash in Salisbury early Monday morning.

Around 3:30 a.m., troopers, Salisbury firefighters, and the Penacook Rescue Squad were sent to North Road for a report of a crash involving a pickup truck, a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado. The driver reportedly crashed the truck into a tree and was unconscious.

Firefighters, the first to arrive, determined the driver was dead at the scene.

“All aspects of the crash remain under investigation,” Michal Sventek, a public information officer for state police, said.

The name of the driver is being withheld pending next of kin notification.

Pair Arrested After I-93 Chase

A man from Somersworth and a woman from Franklin were arrested last week after a chase on Interstate 93.

Around 11 p.m. on June 2, Hooksett police informed troopers about an unsuccessful traffic stop of a 2015 Ford Escape near the Welcome Center. The officer told state police the vehicle was traveling on the northbound side of the highway at more than 100 mph and the SUV had no taillights.

A trooper saw the SUV near Exit 12 in Concord and attempted to stop it but accused the driver of failing to stop.

At Exit 17, spike strips were laid out and managed to deflate one of the SUV’s front tires. However, Tyler Dumont, a state police public information officer said, the driver kept going.

“The pursuit continued onto Route 4, through Boscawen and Salisbury, where the driver eventually turned onto Route 127,” he said. “After entering Franklin, the driver turned onto a small, dirt road and, about half a mile later, stopped in front of a mobile home. The male driver then got out of (the) Ford and fled into the home.”

Roxanne Quaile, 38, of Franklin, a passenger in the vehicle, was arrested on a warrant.

Troopers and Franklin police set up a perimeter and, after a period of time negotiating, Phillip Bryson, 53, of Somersworth, surrendered to police. He was charged with habitual offender, disobeying an officer, resisting arrest or detention, reckless conduct, and reckless operation. Bryson was scheduled to be arraigned on June 3 in Franklin District Court.

Driver Injured After Chase, Crash On Turnpike

A driver was injured during a chase and crash on the Everett Turnpike on May 30.

Around 1:30 a.m., a state trooper was traveling south on the turnpike in Bedford when they clocked a 2018 Infiniti Q50 at 140 mph, according to Sventek.

“The driver refused to stop and a pursuit ensued,” he said. “The driver continued southbound on the turnpike until ultimately traveling off the right side of the roadway where the vehicle crashed.”

The driver was trapped inside the vehicle as it started to burn. Other troopers and Merrimack police used fire extinguishers to put the fire out while also trying to rescue the driver. After Merrimack Fire and Rescue teams arrived, the fire was completely extinguished and the driver was removed.

The driver was medflighted to Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston with serious injuries.

State police did not release the name of the driver.
