Mirsky: Why I Am Supporting Cory Booker For President

I have listened to the 2020 presidential candidates, I have met candidates at campaign events here on the New Hampshire Seacoast, and I have learned as much as I can. There is one person who stands out as the best among all the candidates, a person with vision, strength, and the capacity to inspire. That person is Cory Booker, United States Senator from the State of New Jersey.

In his career, as a public interest lawyer focusing on preventing housing discrimination, as a City Councilor in Newark, New Jersey, as the Mayor of Newark, and in his current position as an influential United States Senator, Cory Booker has worked consistently, and effectively, to improve the lives of everyone within his sphere of influence.

As a high school athlete, Cory Booker played the sport of football with distinction, earning High School All American status, and joining the Stanford University college football team at the position of tight end. In football, the position of tight end is an important position as the tight end is both a blocker and a pass receiver. The position of tight end requires steadiness and strength, as well as speed, quickness, and sure hands to catch the football. Playing football makes you tough, and requires intelligence as well as a commitment to working with others to achieve a common goal. I am supporting Cory Booker for President because what we need right now in the White House is a tough, intelligent individual who has a commitment to working with others for the benefit of all of us.

As a Yale Law School graduate, Cory Booker could have seized upon the great financial wealth available to elite lawyers in this country, but instead Cory Booker chose to become a community activist in the urban center of Newark, New Jersey, where he went to work fighting to improve the quality of life for the people of Newark in the face of serious economic and social challenges. Cory Booker remains as a resident of Newark, where he continues to serve that community and the greater community of the United States as a whole, in his current role as a United States Senator.

The President of the United States can do a lot of good, but only if the President wants to do something good, only if the President can unite us all and utilize the best that each person has to offer. Cory Booker has the strength, the motivation, and the love of humanity necessary to lead America in a positive direction. I hope you will consider supporting Cory Booker for President in 2020.
