Canal Street Fire in Nashua Was Arson, Police Say

A suspect was arrested Monday, police said.

A fire forced residents of a Canal Street apartment building to flee for their lives Sunday night.

The fire broke out at about 6 p.m. at 30 Canal St.

Nine people fled the building; one was treated for smoke inhalation, according to WMUR.

Police said Arthur Perrault, 52, of Litchfield, intentionally set the fire after he was given an eviction notice. He was scheduled to be arraigned Monday.
