Three Teens Arrested on Drug Charges at Sobriety Checkpoint

Portsmouth Police checked more than 260 vehicles this weekend on Lafayette Road.

A sobriety checkpoint held by the Portsmouth Police Department led to three men being arrested and charged.

Arrested were:

  • Daniel Marcoux, 18, pictured left, of Chestnut Hill Road in Rochester, was arrested for felony possession of a controlled drug. Marcoux was released on $2,500 personal recognizance bail. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Oct. 5.
  • Anthony Cardin, 18, pictured center, of Gina Drive in Rochester, was arrested for possession of a controlled drug and transportation of a controlled drug. Cardin was released on $750 personal recognizance bail. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Oct. 5.
  • James Potter, 19, of Brave Boat Harbor Road in Kittery, ME, was arrested for possession of a controlled drug. Potter was released on $500 personal recognizance bail. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Oct. 5.

The checkpoint was held on the southbound side of Lafayette Road near the Peverly Hill Road intersection, according to Capt. Frank Warchol.

During the course of the checkpoint – which was held between 10:30 p.m. on Aug. 28, 2015, and 2 a.m. on Aug. 29, – 261 drivers were screened. Along with the three teens listed, a juvenile was also taken into protective custody and released to their parent at the scene.
