Moorestown Man, 81, Dies Due To Coronavirus

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 882 Moorestown residents have tested positive for the coronavirus, and 68 have died.

MOORESTOWN, NJ — An 81-year-old Moorestown man has died after testing positive for the coronavirus, Burlington County officials announced Saturday night.

He is the 68th Moorestown resident to die after testing positive for the virus, according to numbers provided by the Burlington County Health Department.

Nine additional cases were announced in Moorestown on Christmas Day, followed by another six on Saturday. As of Saturday night, 882 Moorestown residents have tested positive for the coronavirus since the pandemic began.

Countywide, four deaths were reported for that same period, including three on Christmas Day and one on Saturday. Over the same period, 508 new cases were reported, including 286 on Christmas and 222 on Saturday.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, there have been 20,615 cases of the coronavirus, 578 confirmed deaths and 58 probable deaths.

The focus is on close contacts, defined as closer than 6 feet for more than 10 minutes, household contacts and those that work in high risk settings such as healthcare workers and long term care facilities.
